Budget friendly Mental health care tips
Thrift shopping, shopping under a budget, what all you can get under ₹500 is something that seems to be much in trend these days. To my knowledge, there seems to be an app, a website, or whatever kind of software where you can purchase any kind of item for much cheaper/reasonable prices. But when it comes to mental health, mental sanity, mental awareness etc, I haven’t seen many videos, or content trending about the same. So here I have curated a few tips that I have gotten from reliable sources so that you and I can achieve our mental health goals together in 2025!
So are you ready to spend only your time, energy in your safe zone, and at the same time maintain your mental health and feel your best this year ! Then wait no more, come on let’s hope onto this mental health budget friendly ride and see what it has to show us…
Have 4-wins on a daily basis:
I have come across a concept several times from a YouTuber, entrepreneur, and educational content creator named Jun Yuh. One key idea he frequently mentions in his videos and reels is the importance of achieving four wins each day. These wins include:
1. Mental Win: This involves feeding your brain by learning something new every day. It could be anything from picking up a new language to acquiring a new skill or even reading a book.
2. Physical Win: This entails moving your body for about 45 minutes each day. I understand that working out in the morning can be challenging, but it’s important for our mental health. Research indicates that physical activity releases happy hormones in the body, which can boost your mood.
3. Spiritual Win: This win is about recognizing that there is a greater power than yourself. For some, this might mean sitting quietly for about 15 minutes to pray, meditate, or engage in mindfulness activities.
4. Accountability Win: This involves journaling or simply reflecting on your thoughts and feelings. Take time to remind yourself of what you are grateful for in life.
Time track your daily chores/work:
I have recently started using a method that has been helpful during my master’s college applications and content writing. I realized that immersing myself in a specific task for an extended period can negatively impact my mental health. Therefore, when planning to work on a task for the day, I recommend setting a time limit of 30 to 45 minutes. You can use an alarm clock, stopwatch, or just the clock app on your phone, avoiding any distractions during this time. By following this approach, you can accomplish a significant amount of work without feeling overly stressed!
Make the most of your Canva, Pinterest apps:
For some, this method might not seem intuitive at first, but hear me out. In the era of self-affirmations and the science behind them, what’s stopping you or anyone else from trying it yourself? I’m not suggesting that you create complex affirmations; rather, just grab your phone, laptop, or tablet and download Pinterest right away! Trust me, it’s a much better alternative to the mindless scrolling we often do on Instagram.
Simply search for affirmations that resonate with you (yes, I mean literally!) and either save them, print them out, and stick them somewhere visible. You can also get creative by adding your personal touch using Canva to make the self-affirmations even more meaningful! This is something I did when I created a "Vision Board" for 2025, which includes numerous reassurances and affirmations that I make a point to look at while working at my desk.
No joke: when you say these affirmations out loud or simply look at them daily, you’ll likely notice significant changes in your mindset.
De-cluttering your mental and physical space:
This is one of the most highly recommended tips from my perspective! Growing up, I didn’t particularly enjoy cleaning or de-cluttering. However, in today's world, de-cluttering has become very important. It's often said that when you have a clean space around you, your productivity increases. So, starting tomorrow, try to make it a point to clean up after yourself. Don't wait for that chair, table, or corner in your room to accumulate clutter and leave you feeling overwhelmed. When it comes to decluttering your mind, the process can be a bit different. Instead of using a feather duster to clean your space, you might need a book, recorder, pen, or even a mental reminder.
As I've mentioned in my previous blogs, if you can spare just 10 minutes each day to jot down words or phrases that have caused you distress, it can be incredibly helpful. If you prefer to never see that paper again, it's best to recycle or discard it. This simple action can help eliminate some of your negative thoughts. Another effective method is journaling. If you feel lost in this area, consider looking up quick and easy journal prompts and taking a screenshot of them. At the end of the day, you can either write your thoughts down in your diary or simply speak them aloud. This practice can add more meaning to your reflection and help clear your mind.
Affordable/prob-bono therapy:
While the methods mentioned above may work for some people, let's be honest—there's no harm in seeking help if these approaches don't suit you. Fortunately, many aspiring counselors and clinical psychologists are eager to offer therapy sessions, often at little to no cost. And you know what the even more amazing part of therapy is ? If your brain chemicals/ your vibes don’t match with your therapist, you can always switch to another one.
This will benefit both you and your therapist at the same time ! It’s a process of discovering what works best for you, and that may involve some trial and error. The most important thing is that you are taking the steps toward feeling better, and there’s support out there, often more accessible than you might think.
I hope you find some key takeaways from this blog! As an extra budget-friendly tip, consider unwinding your day with a warm or cold shower, and then enjoy a good night's sleep. Trust me, it really makes a difference! Also, don't forget to check out the products mentioned in the image below. Have a great day, lovely human beings!
