Main Character Energy: Slay or Stray?
Hello, besties! Welcome back to our Zensible weekly Mental Health blog post, or if you're new here, we’re glad to have you! Today, we’re diving into one of the most talked-about trends: the concept of being the “Main Character” in your own life, as if there’s a secret camera following you everywhere. In this blog, I’ll give you a sneak peek into how influencers around us embody this ultimate “Main Character energy.” But don’t worry, there will be a twist at the end because life isn’t just rainbows and sunshine, right? Ultimately, my dear besties, it’s up to you to decide whether you want to embrace this trend or step away from it and embrace it to a limit. So, let’s get right into the blog!
First things first, we need to educate ourselves about what does “MCE” i.e. – “Main Character Energy” even means. It is a very “famous social media slang which stands for wherein an individual feels like the “protagonist” of their life”. Damn, who wouldn’t want to do that on a daily basis right ? Trust me, it’s worth all the hype that it gets ! Because that’s when you start romanticizing the mundane chores, shift your mindset, etc. So how do you slay in being one ? Well, besties, I have got you covered !
Embrace your energy and individuality, and remember that there is no one else like you.
Find beauty in the little things in your daily life, from enjoying a coffee to dressing up or watching a sunset.
Act as if you are the main character in your life. Pay attention to your needs, wants, and desires.
Dedicate significant time to yourself and prioritize your self-care.
With this you also have a sense of control and leadership in your life.
Wow, that feels nice, doesn’t it? Just you and your thoughts, with the spotlight shining solely on you! However, let’s take a look at the behind-the-scenes (BTS) of the spotlight effect. This can be quite overwhelming, so brace yourselves and consider your mental health:
You may start to overreact and dramatize both minor and major events in your life.
With the normalization of “main character energy,” there is a risk of it evolving into attention-seeking behavior and an increased need for reassurance.
You might find it difficult to see anyone or anything outside of your own imagined "main character energy bubble."
Over time, you may feel an internal pressure to maintain this facade.
So… is it going to be Slay or Stray? Like every trending reel or slang, even MCE has its own ups and downs. And I’m not here to preach about why being the main character of your story is a bad idea—nor am I saying it’s the best one. But you do you, because at the end of the day, this internet-sensation slang also has the power to mess with your mental health. I really hope you all liked this blog post and the different twist it was written in. Do let us know your thoughts in the comments section on our social media handles—we’d love to hear from you! Until the next blog post, take care, you lovely human beans!
