4 Hacks to Amp Up Your Therapy Game
It’s the 21st century and us, as Gen-Z / Millennial therapists, have the “free will” to be whatever and do whatever (keeping ethical considerations in mind). Being a therapist does have its ups and downs (both mentally and physically). In this blog, we are NOT here delve into managing that!
Instead, we want to talk about how can you stand out as a therapist in this economy? To not only get more clients but also kickstart your creative side! Because guess what? At Zensible, we don’t always stick to the books! But we try stuff out of the box! And if that’s something you resonate with, then this blog is for you! We are here to stand out and make our mark in the therapy world!
🎈 Therapy Room Interiors
Instill the idea of “free will” and "creativity" firmly in your minds! Because it could actually take you a long way! Starting with your physical space itself. Whether it's a private, clinical, hospital, or corporate practice, it's highly important to welcome your potential clients with warmth and comfort. So they can feel comfortable being vulnerable! And when it comes to the interiors, they can be both small and big. Such as warm lighting, a comfy cushion, something stimulating and colorful to make the room more lively, amongst other things.
🎈Stimulating toys/objects
How many times have we all found ourselves fidgeting with something or the other to be able to talk properly? Let it be holding onto a blanket, a toy, or something that comforts or stimulates us. For me personally, I prefer to have a pillow near me, as it keeps me grounded during my personal therapy sessions. So this is the time to liven up your inner child, and your therapist's side too. Some of the objects you can buy are a squeaky toy, a stress ball, a fidget spinner, soft toy, interactive picture books, and phew… the list goes on! This could be fruitful for your itsy bitsy clients for sure!
🎈Emoji Check-in wheel
Want to evolve with time? Then keep this emoji wheel beside your emotions wheel! Because let's be honest, not all of us can always express ourselves with proper wording or terms. But emojis or emoticons are a better way, especially for us Gen-Zers to express ourselves. Because this emoji…🤡, 😃, 😭, 😂, 😤…cannot per se mean the same for everyone. It can mean they're sad, happy, overwhelmed, silly, angry, or any other emotions and that can start pretty interesting conversations.
🎈Pet-Assisted therapy sessions
Now this might be a stretch for many of us, but therapy dogs are a legit thing…some airports even have them for passengers, and hospitals use them too. These furry little beings are something special, and they have a great positive impact on us humans by reducing stress and releasing happy hormones like oxytocin. So if you can by any chance bring your furry friends to a session, you'll definitely stand out as a therapist and provide extra care to your clients too…think bunnies for kids or cats for anxiety relief!
And that’s a wrap for this blog post! I hope you found these tips helpful and that you’ll incorporate at least a few of them to stand out in the field of therapy. Until the next post, take care, you lovely human beans!
