Therapist Energy Boosts

Are you a therapist (new or experienced) with back-to-back sessions almost every day? And do you sometimes not feel 100% for every session? That’s completely normal…because you’re human too. So while that sinks in, I’d like to share some fun tips (both achievable and non-time-consuming) to help you show up as a great therapist every day… or at least most days… for your clients. Hopefully, these tips get ingrained into your basal ganglia… so they become routine… and naturally show up during those 10–15 minute breaks between your sessions.

🌀 Set up a pre-session ritual:

A ritual / to-do list / routine…whatever works for you! This can consist of a little happy dance, deep breathing, setting up your space for the next client, giving yourself a pep talk, and removing all the excessive files. And just sitting will decrease your cognitive and physical overload.

🌀 Ending the sessions on time:

Your client may be having an emotional breakdown or sharing something very happy that happened to them recently. It can be hard to stop them in the middle, but to maintain proper boundaries and have enough time before the next session, it is essential. Whether it’s 10 minutes or even 10 seconds before their allotted time, make sure to summarise the session completely. This way, it becomes a win-win situation for both the client and you as a therapist.

🌀 Setting firm boundaries:

This may be a repetitive tip that we have heard since our undergrad and followed all the way to our master’s. But do we actually take this simple tip seriously? A genuine question to ask yourself. Whether it is setting boundaries with your clients during sessions, after sessions, or even in those breaks…make sure to indulge in activities that truly calm you down. This can look like:

  • No client talk or discussion during breaks.

  • Remembering to breathe during the breaks.

  • Getting yourself a coffee or something that you enjoy.

🌀M & M Relaxation:

This might not be the actual M&M candy, but it might give out the same sensation when used properly! I’m referring to music and muscle relaxation. Some movement topped with fun pop music (at a good volume, of course…we don’t want complaints from your neighbours lol 😅) can genuinely take you a long way. It might even slide away those slight little worries you have as a therapist…about your clients, yourself, work, adulting, etc. So… have you got some moves or what? 💃🏻

🌀 Let your brain actually take a break:

Between sessions, your 10–15 minutes shouldn’t be spent expanding half-written notes before you forget what happened… or flipping through old files trying to remember what your 3 PM client was working on. If you want to truly disengage from one session, prep calmly for the next, and relax without draining yourself further, let Zensible handle the heavy lifting. It takes full transcripts of your previous sessions, generates organized notes, and gives you a clean client-level summary to review before you begin again. So instead of worrying about forgetting something important, you can breathe, stretch, sip that coffee… and trust that your notes are taken care of. You’ve got this 💜

Hope these little methods prove to be fruitful for most of you…current or future working therapists! And if you think someone you know might benefit from this, do make sure to click that share button and spread the word! Until the next blog post, take care, you lovely human beans 💛.
